I was contacted by BBC Radio Shropshire during the 9/11 emergency to do a number of radio interviews. Their angle was that I was a local boy (I was brought up in Shropshire) living abroad and that the locals would be able to identify with me and so be able to get a better handle on things. I did 3 interviews in all but unfortunately I don't have the first one.
The first interview was done at about 0430hrs on the 12th. I was interviewed live on their breakfast show. This was not a problem as I was already working at a Red Cross shelter in downtown Manhattan at the time. I'd been there all night.. The second one was done later that day at lunchtime for their evening drivetime program. This is the first of the below recordings. By this time I had been up for some 36hrs and was still on duty at the Red Cross center and its starting to show. The second recording was done the following Tuesday one week on form the event and I'm much more lucid. This interview was recorded earlier in the day and edited for broadcast. Its also incomplete as the start of the interview was not sent to me.
Please note that the copyright on these recordings belongs to BBC Radio Shropshire rather than me.
