I like PBS stations. They seem to be the only ones progressing technology. They were the first ones to do Digital TV. They were the first ones to do closed captions. They were the first ones to transmit the time signal. They even did Teletext for a while. Where they get the money from is beyond me. For you non Americans reading these pages, PBS is the closest thing the US has to the BBC. They are a funded by donations from viewers, corporate sponsorship and a very little bit of government money.
My local PBS affiliate is WNJN. They are the sole PBS station in the State of New Jersey. Long ago someone realised that if all the smaller PBS stations got together they could pool their resources and produce a better TV station. NJN now has a number of offices littered around the State as well as a number of transmitter and studio sites.
NJN has recently turned on their channel 8 Digital TV transmitter located in New Brunswick, NJ and it delivers some 5 digital streams to its viewers. Below are screenshots from all 5 of these streams.

This is the analogue picture on channel 58 from the same transmitter site.

This is PBSYOU.
